The record of a promise.

America told the Afghans who served alongside its troops, diplomats, and aid workers that it would protect them. This is the library that documents that promise, keeps score of it, and holds it up against the evidence.

AfghanEvac's special reports sit here beside the primary-source government record, from every public Afghan Special Immigrant Visa report to the oversight findings that shaped the program.

The Special Reports

Five Years On

A series released across the fifth anniversary of the fall of Kabul. Each report stands on its own; together they form one continuous accounting of what was promised and what remains undone.

Five Years On: The Record of a Promise

The umbrella of AfghanEvac's 2026 special-report series, released across the fifth anniversary of the fall of Kabul. It frames the whole record: what the United States promised its Afghan wartime allies, what it built to keep that promise, and where the commitment stands today. Read it first, then work through the individual reports below.

Protection Promised cover
Special Report July 15, 2026

Protection Promised

Traces the promise of protection itself: the statutory commitment Congress made to Afghans who served alongside U.S. forces, the vetting and durable-status architecture built to honor it, and how thoroughly applicants are screened before they ever arrive.

The Unfinished Mission cover
Special Report July 31, 2026

The Unfinished Mission

The data-driven accounting of Enduring Welcome: issuance by administration, the backlog of Chief-of-Mission-approved allies, processing time against the standard Congress set, and the 2025 shutdown that froze flights and visas. The core quantitative record of where the pipeline stands.

Available July 31, 2026Special report
The Allied Ledger cover
Special Report August 10, 2026

The Allied Ledger

A coalition reckoning: how the United States and its partners accounted for the Afghans who worked beside them, country by country, and what closing the door costs, measured in allies still waiting and commitments left unmet.

The Practitioner's Companion

A working reference on relief options and standards for the attorneys, caseworkers, and advocates handling active Afghan cases. Built to sit beside the special reports and turn their findings into practical guidance.

The Impact Report

What the coalition has done

Beyond the policy record is the operational one. The AfghanEvac Impact Report accounts for the coalition's own work: the organizations and volunteers who moved allies through a system that too often stalled, the cases carried, and the people who reached safety because a coalition refused to let the promise lapse.

Government Reports

The underlying public record, linked directly to its official source so anyone can check it, grouped by the body that produced it: Defense, Homeland Security, State, the White House, Congress, international governments, and a broader immigration and enforcement section. These are the government's own documents, not AfghanEvac's characterization of them.

Have a role in the record

The Afghanistan War Commission wants to hear from you

Congress created the Afghanistan War Commission to examine the strategic, diplomatic, and operational decisions of the war from 2001 to 2021, and to draw lessons the country can actually use. Its final report is due to the public before August 22, 2026. The people who lived the war have a place in that record, and the window to add to it is closing.

Each link goes directly to the Afghanistan War Commission's official intake for that group at afghanistanwarcommission.senate.gov. AfghanEvac is not affiliated with the Commission and does not receive or review what you send; we point you to it because the record is stronger when the people who lived the war help write it.
